Last month's puzzle challenged students to tie a simple overhand
knot in a piece of yarn by picking up the yarn by its ends and not letting
the ends go until after the knot had been tied. In solving this puzzle
you must first make a knot with your arms. To do this, bend both arms
at the elbow. Place your right hand under your left upper arm with your
right forearm resting on top of your left forearm. Next, lift your left
hand so that it is above your right upper arm. You have now made a not
with your arms. Reach down and pick up the ends of the yarn with your
hands (this takes some flexibility and may be easier for you students
than it is for you). Pull your arms apart and the knot will be transferred
to the yarn. |
