Solution: The Toothpick Triangle Challenge
In The Toothpick Triangle Challenge, students were asked to try and make different numbers of equilateral triangles using six flat toothpicks. One equilateral triangle is made by using two toothpicks to a side. Two triangles are made by making two separate equilateral triangles with the six toothpicks. The third taskto make three equilateral trianglesis not possible. The fourth taskmaking four trianglesis accomplished by making the toothpicks form a tetrahedron, or triangular pyramid.
