Meet You At The Station

This is a free teacher professional learning opportunity!

LIVING HISTORY TOUR OF THE HISTORIC KINGSBURG DEPOT
Step back into 1923 when passenger and freight trains stopped at every depot in the San Joaquin Valley, including Kingsburg. Learn how to engage students in Common Core Standards in a historic setting. Each participant will leave with engaging approaches to learning to be utilized in the classroom. Two different strands will be offered:
TK - 2nd grade and 3rd - 5th grade.

SCIENCE & MATH
Educators will engage in hands-on, content rich, conceptual math and science explorations based on what students will see and learn during a Historic Kingsburg Depot living history field trip. The goal for each grade span is for teachers to experience engaging explorations that are aligned with California math and science standards.

ELA & SOCIAL STUDIES
The goal of this strand is to provide educators with materials that will engage students in learning the history of the Kingsburg Train Depot and improving literacy simultaneously through close reading, academic conversations, and inquiry-centered learning.
